Arizona State Data Center Annual Meeting

The Arizona State Data Center (SDC) Network is announcing its Annual meeting for 2019.  The event will take place at the Maricopa Association of Governments Building in Phoenix, Arizona.  We will be holding the meeting on Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. In the morning, we have scheduled three presentations featuring the 2020 Decennial Census update given by the U.S. Census Bureau’s Denver/Dallas Regional Census Center, 2020 Partnership Coordinator, Ms. Pauline Nunez.  She will be discussing the current 2020 Census activities going forward through Census Day on April 1, 2020.  She also will let us know if there are further job opportunities available or if there are other scheduled activities available for participation.  Then we will have a Census Bureau Product Update, by Mr. Eric Coyle who serves as our Arizona Data Dissemination Specialist with the Data Dissemination Branch of the U.S. Census Bureau.  Eric will also lead the discussion as we look at our Community by the Numbers: Race, Ethnicity, Ancestry, and Foreign Born Populations. After our lunch break, the U.S. Census Bureau’s Center for Enterprise Dissemination Services and Consumer Innovation will guide the group in a discussion that will look into the new way that the Census Bureau will be disseminating data going forward at Data.Census.Gov.  This application will soon eclipse the sun-setting American FactFinder, so you do not want to miss this demonstration and discussion.  Then, we will look into the Census Data Application Programming Interface (API).  This program gives the public access to raw statistical data from various Census Bureau data programs.  Lastly, we will wrap up the meeting with a few brief highlights of the State Data Center activities and our partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau as we move into the “home stretch” for the 2020 Decennial Census.  See this link for the draft agenda. Parking will be available in the MAG parking garage.  You will enter on 1st Avenue, which is one-way southbound.  You will also need to bring your parking ticket with you to the meeting so that it can be stamped (validated).  However, if you choose to park in another area outside of MAG’s parking garage, you will not be able to have your parking validated by MAG and it will be at your own cost. This event is free of charge and held for the Arizona SDC Affiliate Members and Data Users throughout the state.  Laptops, Tablets, and Smartphones are encouraged for those who would like the "Hands-on" approach to training.  Join us and get your questions answered by the experts!  Register Today!
