      Wet Plate Collodion Process Photography

Valley Photographer brings vintage wet plate collodion prints to life. Wet Plate Collodion photography process is one of the oldest processes of photography, evoking a traditional and historical, yet unique quality to the composition. Uncontrollable lines and patterns form on the film plane making each plate unique and a piece of art in its own right. This unpredictable outcome lends itself to the beauty of the wet plate process.

Wet plate photography sessions for people and pet portraiture are now available with this process, allowing people to immortalize their pet or precious photo using wet plate photography.

The artist states, “Instead of just using it as a capturing tool, I also decided to use it as a printing process allowing me to take digital images and convert them to wet pates. This mixed process gives me the ability to do more with the composition and lighting.” The final product is a 4x5 inch Alumi-type (similar to a tin-type, except on an aluminum plate). Digital Prints up to 16x20 can also be produced from the plate as well.
      Photography sessions choices include:
      1. Traditional portrait sitting for a wet plate print (sitting still for a 10-15 second exposure)
      2. Digital photography taken and converted into a wet plate print, or used as a digital photograph.
