One of the Valley’s newest culinary events, Live & Local presented by GoDaddy, is set to take place on Sunday, November 3rd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall.
With additional thanks to title sponsor NOVA Home Loans, in total, the event will feature over 40 local wine, spirit and restaurant tastings including:
• The Grind
• Roaring Fork
• RA Sushi Bar Restaurant
• Carlsbad Tavern
• Tryst Café
• Tom’s Thumb Fresh Market
• Four Peaks Brewery
• Sleepy Dog Saloon and Brewery
• Prescott Brewing Company
• Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers
• The Clayton on the Park
• JJ’s Delicatessen
• Arizona Stronghold Wine
• Mother Road Brewing Company
• Mudshark Brewery
• Su Vino Winery
To date, the event has also lined up a specialty tequila bar thanks to Roger Clyne’s Mexican Moonshine and 3 Amigos Tequila. In addition, Blanco’s Tacos will host festive sangrias stations and The Cider Mill will be brewing their own sodas for the event as well as hosting a “float station,” where participants will be able to create one-of-a-kind desserts.
“Our goal is to celebrate the best in Arizona food, music and spirits with an extensive culinary and entertainment lineup including local restaurant and beverage partners, entertainers and more, with proceeds set to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale,” says Allen Thompson, owner of The Grind, who is also co-chairing the event.
The music lineup will be headlined by national recording artist Kelley James. James’ music is a fascinating collection of acoustic guitars, hip-hop beats, thoughtful lyrics and freestyle flows. He is currently working on a new album set to be released around the same time as Live & Local. His last single, “Summertime on my Mind,” became a summer anthem and has received recognition from several viral entertainment sites including BroBible, BuzzFeed, ClevverMusic, Mashable and Tone It Up.
Joining James will be Obadiah Parker. Mat Weddle has been playing music as Obadiah Parker since 2005 – and even played basketball at the Boys & Girls Club’s Barker Branch in Arcadia. Driven by a popular YouTube video of a live performance, his cover of “Hey Ya” became a breakout hit in 2007, topping the iTunes singer-songwriter charts for the year. With the following 2008 EP, The Tip Jar, Vol. I, Obadiah Parker built a strong internet following with soulful vocals and his ability to cover a variety of tunes with a unique and singular style.
In addition, Scott Keo will also perform during the event. Keo is a veteran of the music industry as both a premiere Michael Bublé tribute act and an experienced singer/songwriter. Over the past 15 years he has become known for his distinctive voice and entertaining live performances. He has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Bob Caudle, Terry Davies, Dave Halstrom, Mike Martis, Peter Petty and Steve Roman.
Professional DJs will also be performing at the event.
