      - Other Entertainment Includes Dueling Pianos, Holiday Music -

The eighth annual lighting of Arizona’s largest Christmas tree, featuring an animated light show set to music and an evening of holiday entertainment, will be held from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 21 at Outlets at Anthem in north Phoenix.

The event is free and open to the public. Outlets at Anthem is located just
10 minutes north of the Loop 101 off Interstate 17 at the Anthem Way exit 229.

“This event has become a tradition in the north Valley,” said Sallyann Martinez, marketing director for the popular center, pointing out that last year’s event drew more than 10,000 people. “It’s an economical evening of entertainment for the family. There will be lots of music and a bit of drama when our 80-foot Christmas tree is lit. It’s a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit.”

The event begins at 5 p.m. with brief presentations by Outlets at Anthem’s charity partners St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.

Entertainment gets underway at 5:20 p.m. with Dueling Pianos featuring musicians Ben Murphy and Billy Ward from The Big Bang, a sing-a-long piano bar in Tempe, who will combine music, comedy and audience participation in a high-energy show.

Featured entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m. with teen music sensation Savannah performing in concert. The 17-year-old has achieved star status with more than 43 million YouTube views for her music video posts. Her debut single, the self-penned Goodbyes, peaked at number five on Radio Disney’s Top 30 in 2008 and is currently featured on the Disney Jams 11 CD which was released earlier this year. It was also selected as one of the top 10 Radio Disney summer songs.

Over the summer, Savannah performed with Mitchel Musso on the Teen Terrific Tour and filmed a music video featuring Tony Oller. This year she also released her second single, If You Only Knew.

Savannah can be seen in a variety of teen magazines including J-14, Tigerbeat, Popstar and Bop and will be featured along with Jennifer Stone and Debbie Ryan in Tigerbeat’s December issue.

She performs at numerous Radio Disney events and can also be heard on the Disney Mania 7 and Tinkerbell soundtracks. In addition, Savannah is the featured artist on the world’s first 3-D Holographic player to be released in 2010.

Arizona’s largest Christmas tree will be lighted in an animated performance at 7 p.m. in a ceremony that attracts more than 8,000 people annually.

Savannah and Phoenix City Councilwoman Thelda Williams (District 1) will join Santa Claus to flip a large switch that will light the 80-foot white fir tree. Selected from the Shasta/Trinity National Forest area on the California-Oregon border, the 45-year-old tree weighs eight tons and is decorated with more than 25,000 LED lights that will dance, flash and swirl to a medley of holiday carols, as well as bows and ornaments.

To replenish the harvesting of the tree, 50 white firs were planted in its place.

The lighting will be followed by a variety of local entertainment including select holiday numbers performed by the Grace North Church choir, performer Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Lil’Chicks with Picks.
Special discounts will be offered all weekend. On the day of the tree lighting, participating stores will hold a sidewalk sale throughout the day and all stores will be open until 9 p.m.

From Nov. 28-Dec. 24, kids can get their photos taken with Santa at the two-room Santa’s Cottage located near the Christmas tree. Photo packages are available. The cottage features antique architectural elements and a fireplace that snaps and crackles like a real one. Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday, noon-7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 24.

For the pet in your life, Outlets at Anthem will hold Santa Paws Pet Picture Days from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8 at Santa’s Cottage. Pets being photographed with Santa will receive a free comb-out or bandana courtesy of Sonoran Desert Pet Resort.
